Becoming a Minimalist as a First Time Mom

Day 29 – Home Sweet Home

The dishes are done, the laundry is folded and put away, and I am thankful to say that I am home.

It has been a wonderful whirlwind week, but there are few delights as sweet as settling onto your own couch in the evening with a cup of cocoa.

Admittedly I was not able to keep up with minimalism and habits while on my trip. I did take care to keep things generally tidy, but it was at a bare minimum. There was no dishes to be done, which was nice, and laundry couldn’t be finished. I did make certain all dirty laundry was in a basket and ready to take home, which I finished today.

I am very excited for a couple things. One, I was finally able to put my new sheets on my bed today.

It made me so happy to have nice new gray sheets. I think this may be the first time I have been able to buy sheets since we have been married. (My husband and I made that monogram frame, the monogram itself was ordered from groupon.)

The next thing is I was able to buy two sets of dishes. They both match and are of a style I never thought I would like. They are basic white. No details, no designs, just plain white and I love them!

With my black table I am just in love. I cannot wait to decorate for autumn this next week. I think that the contrast in dishes with some orange pumpkins will be beautiful!

After cleaning up my home and putting things away I was able to make a filling dinner of chicken spaghetti and garlic toast.

There was a light fog outside all day so I a, especially excited for good comfort foods and autumn decor.

Tomorrow I’m hoping to declutter all of the old unmatching dishes as well as a few other things.

Have you decluttered anything today? Let me know in the comments.

Until tomorrow,

Mom minimal
